Prompt #4: Intention + Forgotten

Prompt #4: Intention + Forgotten

Hello Writers and Journalers,

Today’s words are Intention and Forgotten. If you feel resistance to journaling about either word, that’s your sign to journal about that word. It might take courage. It might take giving your inner rebel a cookie to distract them from distracting you. And it might take playing it safe with a little fiction.

If you need guidance or direction, I’ve been a coach for a few years now, with a bunch of journaling events and workshops under my belt. I’m happy to help!

I kind of have to laugh because this word pairing might apply to more than one thing in my life over the years.

I’m not going to confess, but I think you know it’s true.

Anyway, I also wanted to say a word about resistance. Yesterday’s words were Serendipity and Focus. Focus is an easy one for me. Serendipity, though … I saw it come out of the box and groaned. I wanted to pull a different word, but that would be cheating. So, I sat with Serendipity and what I want you to know is that when a word gives you resistance, when you don’t want to write about it, that is the time when you do want to sit down and write about it.

Sometimes you have to push yourself a little bit and say I hate this word. What is this word about? I don’t know what to say. And then you spin that to say something along the lines of What I really want to say about Serendipity is … What I really want to say about Forgotten is … and that can open up a floodgate.

If you are feeling resistance about Forgotten or Intention, please sit with it. Write. Just write whatever comes out. Try to persuade yourself to write on these words. Three handwritten pages.

You got this.
