Mini-Retreats EVERY THIRD SATURDAY of the MONTH
Join us for a full day focused on you, your writing + creativity, and making significant progress on your wanna-get-it-done project.
Timed focus blocks, prompts, check ins, goal spotting, independent writing, and more!
These mini retreats are hotbeds of inspiration, motivation, accountability, support, social connection, and encouragement.
HOTBEDS, I say!
HOT. BEDS.
WHY GIVE UP an entire SATURDAY for this?
You’re not giving something up; you’re giving something to yourself. Something important. Something special.
Because spending the day in one of my mini retreats works. And you and your creativity are worth it.
Do you remember the last time you had a solid reason to indulge in a whole day of writing + creativity, instead of doing chores?
AGAIN, I say:
YOU ARE WORTH IT!
SOME OF the best REASONS to join a MINI-RETREAT
It feels so good to spend the day immersed in writing + creating.
It feels so good to wrap up the day having occupied yourself with the work (and play) you love.
It feels so good to write in the company of other writers.
And it feels even better to step back and behold what you have accomplished.
THAT RIGHT THERE is everything!
Do you REMEMBER that FEELING?
It’s SO GOOD!
Ink, dirt, paint, thread, glass, wood, clay, books, blogs, homework—if the project needs attention and you need motivation, this is the virtual retreat for you.
Even though we’re each on our own laptops in all kinds of different locations, you can tell we’re surrounding you and each other with creative energy.
We are delighted by our progress and yours!
WE SUPPORT YOU!
All day long.

Writing + Creativity Mini Retreat Schedule
You can expect the same basic schedule every month.
Half-day schedules are either 9am-1pm or 3pm-6pm, plus Proof of Write at 8 pm.
9am-10am: SETTLE IN
Introductions all around, virtual hand shaking + emotive hugging from a safe distance, maybe some “before” shots of your creative situation, followed by 45 minutes for Daily Pages. This block of time is designed for clearing your mind, setting your intentions, fiddling with your goals, and getting random thoughts and feelings off your chest and out of the way.
10am-1pm: MORNING SESSION
Switch gears and get to it. The Morning Session is when we engage in timed writing + creativity blocks, check ins, brief chats, goal spotting, and independent work, all with a Zoom room full of friendly faces holding us pleasantly accountable for focus and productivity while they, too, do their thing.
1pm-3pm: BREAK for LUNCH
Turn off Zoom for two hours. I strongly encourage each person to eat, take a walk, drink water, and rest. If you’re still engaged with your storytelling, daydream. Draw. Do something – anything – away from the screen.
3pm-6pm: AFTERNOON SESSION
It’s time to get back to it, fed, watered, and refreshed for longer timed writing + creativity blocks, more pointed check ins, ongoing support from the other writers + creatives in the group, and still more of that independent stuff you love so much.
6pm-8pm: BREAK for DINNER
Turn off Zoom for two hours again. I strongly encourage each person to eat, relax, put your feet up, check in with family. If you’re still engaged with your storytelling, daydream. Draw. Do something – anything – away from the screen.
8pm-9pm: PROOF of WRITE
The group returns to share. This is where we get to read and enjoy excerpts + samples from the day’s writing + creativity. No need for anything polished or even presentable; we just want to know what you made progress on so we can acknowledge your efforts and celebrate you for your hard work. It’s also pretty cool to be exposed to what other people have been working on.
