Prompt #7: Meek + Haughty

Prompt #7: Meek + Haughty

Hello Writers and Journalers,

Today I pulled the words from the Magic Box of Words live on my Instagram Reel and shared the origin of the name Magic Box of Words.

It was coined by one of my favorite journaling clients several years ago and it has stuck. These word prompts, these combinations, tend to work like magic in journaling workshops, fiction workshops, personal narrative workshops, and especially memoir workshops.

In front of everyone, I pulled these words from the Magic Box of Words, without looking: Meek and Haughty.

That’s one interesting combo right there.

So here’s something that I would like you to consider doing for yourself today. If you are having a hard time being positive in your journal, and you might be in a negative rut, and you can’t quite work your way out of something that is bothering you, I’d like you to experiment with being kind to yourself, and saying really sweet, kind, thoughtful things to you.

This is your own private journal. No one’s going to read it. Speak kindly to yourself in your Daily Pages today. Get cheeky, even. Tell yourself your ass looks great in those jeans, you’re the best French toast chef in the Northern Hemisphere, your smile lights up the entire world. Whatever other people forget to tell you is fair game in your journal.

While you’re in your private pages, practice putting into words that you’re a great writer. A strong writer. A lyrical writer. A flamboyant writer. A masterful writer. An improving writer.

If the shoes fits, wear it out being kind to yourself in your journal.

You are in charge of shaping your creative identity. For some of us, that’s a long, difficult process. You have to start somewhere.

You must.

If you’d like some guidance, reach out to me. I specialize in helping people discover, embrace, and nurture their creative identities.
