Prompt #26: Home + Sharp

Hello Writers and Journalers,

Today’s two-word prompt is Home and Sharp. I did tell you these are random selections, right?

Question: Do you have a habit of should-ing on yourself, in your journal, when you speak to yourself in your head, or when you talk to others about yourself?

Or even when you talk to others about them?

Should is one of those words that has a tail attached to it. It whips up consequences around punishment or beating yourself up. I should have done it this way. You should have done it that way. It shouldn’t be this way.

It doesn’t leave wiggle room for being human and life happening.

A better approach is I could have done it differently. You could do it this way. What if it was this way?

You are worth speaking kindly to yourself.
