Prompt #2: Convince + Germinate

Hello Writers and Journalers,

Today’s Magic Words are Convince and Germinate. These are randomly chosen words to use as a prompt for writing personal narrative, memoir, even fiction if you want to go in that direction.

Sit with these words for a couple of minutes and see what comes up. Thoughts, feelings, memories–anything’s game. And then write. Just start writing. Try to do three pages, handwritten.

I got a little stuck on Germinate today. A bratty little voice inside my head said I was burnt out, no new ideas germinating in my tired skull. That’s the best time to write, when resistance pushes against the prompt.

Before I knew it, though, I had three new, solid ideas pulling my pen across the page.

Stick with it! Journaling can be a real eye-opener.
