Can we entice you into joining us for one or some of our events or activities? This April, every time you show up in person or online, you earn points. The more points you earn, the more prizes you get from the Lucky Dip bag.
The Lucky Dip game is a great way to make breaking the ice fun for newbies – it’s easier to be brave and try something new when there are prizes involved! It’s also a great way for our core members to get into a little friendly competition over who can show up the most (in person and online), share the best and most inspiring posts about writing, and initiate the best and most engaging conversations in our Facebook community.
Points can only be accumulated through participation in free To Live & Write events and activities:
10 points each time you show up to:
- Write-Ins (in-person quiet writing sessions)
- Write Alongs (online quiet writing sessions)
- Elevenses (in-person group discussions/social events)
- Proof of Write (sharing for positive feedback)
5 points each time you share one of these in the To Live & Write Facebook group:
- Daily Pages pic (journaling challenge)
- Proof of Write pic (books & blogs challenge)
- Advice or information about writing
- Questions or comments about the writing life
- Writing-related humor
- The work of another member – book, blog, Substack, etc.
2 points each time you comment:
- On another writer’s post
- In The Week Ahead (our newsletter)
1 point each time you react (like, love, care):
- To another writer’s post
- To The Week Ahead (our newsletter)
Lucky Dip prizes are awarded the first week of May (in person for locals, by mail or email for non-locals).
First Tier prizes (1-35 points) include things like stickers, writing prompts, personalized postcards of encouragement, etc. One pick from the Lucky Dip per 5 points.
Second Tier prizes (36-70 points) include things like pens, pencils, post it notes, phone stands, etc. One pick from the Lucky Dip per 10 points.
Third Tier prizes (71-100) include things like journals, pencil bags, $5 gift cards, small decor items (writing related), and gadgets (also writing related), etc. One pick from the Lucky Dip per 15 points.
VIP Tier prizes (100 and above) include personalized things like discounts on workshops, free 15-minute coaching sessions, feedback on up to 2,500 words of a book or short story, feedback on up to three blog or Substack posts, a pre-dinner retreat cocktail or appetizer on me, etc.
