This workshop is a new spin on an old favorite, just in time for spring.
900am-Noon PDT
Saturday, May 25 & Sunday, May 26
This workshop format was originally developed for Two Truths & A Lie – a favorite since 2018.
Discover the Magic
in Your Memories.
We will spend Saturday morning working with mini memoir, exploring your thoughts and feelings about a few of your life’s experiences so far. We might begin in the shallows, but will work our way into the depths, where the really interesting, poignant things lay in wait.
Sunday is for experimenting with fiction. We move from the hard stuff to the fun stuff. We extract the human and universal truths from your mini memoir pieces and use them to play in the world of fiction. This is how we craft the compelling stories that will resonate with readers.
There are multiple layers and lessons in this workshop; learning where to begin writing a compelling story is just one of them. Keeping yourself safe is another, as is the value of shifting perspective and context to deepen your understanding and experience.
Ink & Imagination is a safe space where we respect each other’s stories, real and imagined, and honor privacy and confidentiality; narrative non-fiction (mini memoir) can be nerve-racking for those not used to it.
This workshop format has been a favorite since 2018 for many reasons, most having to do with how much you get out of the experience that you can keep with you for many years to come.
If you have stories to tell, start here, in Ink & Imagination, to open up possibilities and develop your creative self-esteem.
I believe it’s really that good.
You don’t have to take my word for it:
“For those of us who can’t see ourselves ever writing fiction, I whole-heartedly recommend this workshop! The first day’s emphasis on introspection and self-discovery came naturally to me. I love how Bronwyn reminds me how I can bring that truth-telling into fiction.
“And for others who are in the opposite camp (can’t see themselves writing non-fiction), this workshop should be equally instructive. There is never any pressure to share what you’ve written. Bronwyn provides a supportive, safe environment to explore your truths … before you move on to your inventions.
“I couldn’t ask for a better-organized, more convenient way to get important writing work done. Meeting online works extremely well for my busy schedule. Starting each morning of my weekend this way was incredible, and the creative energy continued all week!”
